ROOKIE LEAGUE Home Click on above menu links to learn more about this Rookie Basketball League. HOOPZONEBASKETBALL HAS RETIRED!! THANK YOU!! Welcome to HOOPZONE Rookie Basketball League for girls and boys in grades 1 thru 3. This recreational league is designed to give area youth the opportunity to learn the game of basketball in a FUN and healthy environment promoting good sportsmanship and team play. Volunteer coaches, under the direction of HOOPZONE, will teach the skills, develop an attitude of team work and establish a passion for the game. A practice session will be provided just prior to each game so kids can remember their instruction. Teams are welcome to practice on their own as they can find gym time. Using mini courts, referees, 9’ hoops and youth size balls this will bring the game alive for this age group. HOOPZONE Basketball will be the league organizer and skills clinic and games will be at the Houghton Lake schools. Families and spectators welcomed. We suggest your 1st grader be able to follow direction and willing to play with older kids. Sign-up as a single player and get assigned to a team or sign-up as a team! 2023 WINTER LEAGUE AT HOUGHTON LAKE: Registration: Houghton Lake students get 20% discount for using H.L. gym. Use voucher "bobcat20off" in cart) x Skills Day: 3 Game & Practice Days: (Sat. mornings to early afternoon): Team rosters and game schedules will be established after the Skills Day. Where to send your registration fee is explained at bottom of registration form. Every game day will have a practice session prior to each game.
