What is the HOOPZONE BASKETBALL CLUB?
A non profit Club designed to give mid to northern Michigan the opportunity to develop in basketball by practicing and playing in leagues and tournaments traveling throughout Michigan. Team will play in the school’s off season time.
Who can participate?
Anyone is willing to tryout for a team per their age group. REGISTER HERE
How much is it?
Each team’s cost varies based on their number of tournaments and amount of players on team. This cost will be discussed by the coach of each team as it develops. Each team may also find sponsors to help cover the cost. We do our best to keep costs down by utiliting local gyms and our equipment.
Where do practices take place.
Practices are usually at a Farwell gym in addition to others within our area. This also will be discussed with team as team develops and coach becomes available.
When does it happen?
Travel teams play at various times of th year but mostly winter for young grades up to 8th and spring/early summer time for older athletes. Tyouts will be set weeks before season starts thus allowing everyone time to prepare. Practices take place in evenings once or twice a week.
Practice and Tournaments are usually set up in advance for planning. A calendar will be distributed by each coach to their team.
Why would people want to be involved on a HBC team?
Athletes not only gain additional skills and knowledge in basketball, but also: Team Work - Determination - Work Ethic - Respect - Pride - Responsibility!! Not to mention, meet new people, make lots of great friends and have a lot of fun! The better high school athletes are the ones who start at an early age (elementary age) and continue throughout high school.
Does it interfere with school in-season sports?
Each team works around their player’s school sport. Being involved with a HBC team does take extra time if your athlete is involved in school sports but the rewards can be great.
