COMMENTS ON THIS DRILL:
This passing drill is meant to overload the middle player and will help players improve passing speed, accuracy, strength, and confidence. |
VIDEOS OF VARIOUS TYPES OF PASSING
|
If done properly, the middle player really gets a workout! You can also add a twist to this drill and work on pivoting at the same time.
Position three players as shown in the diagram.
#1 and #2 will need basketballs.
#1 passes to #3 and #3 immediately returns the pass.
Player 3 pivots to #2.
Player #2 passes to #3 and #3 immediately returns the pass.
#3 turns to #1.
#1 passes to #3 and #3 immediately returns the pass.
Continue for 30 seconds or so many rotations before switching players around.
To make this a multi-use drill, use a specific pivot to turn (drop step pivot, front pivot, etc).
Focus on:
+ Accurate passes.
+
Move as quickly as possible without sacrificing form and accuracy.
+
Stepping toward your receiver.
+
When catching, extend your hands.
